About Us

Whitney Lamy, Founder of Castleton Crackers is an artist and baker. She is fascinated by the origins of many of the foods we eat today which led her to look “outside the box” when contemplating her food business.

In the early 1800s, Josiah Bent from Massachusetts decided to make a lighter and thinner version of Hardtack, a soldiers and seafarers staple. Mr. Bent rolled out sheets of dough, baked and hand “cracked” them. Whitney has been rolling out crackers this original way in her Castleton Vermont kitchen for family and friends for years.

In 2013, VFCC acquired Castleton Crackers. Our artisanal, beautiful, yet rustic-looking crackers are still made from pure, all-natural ingredients. They are the perfect companion to our delicious cheeses! One flavor, Alehouse Cheddar even incorporates our cheese. Castleton Crackers is a true combination of the best of both brands. Together, we are the first artisanal cheese and cracker company in Vermont.
